CodeGarageAfrica in partnership with 386konsult Limited, Zeeh Africa and the Oyo State Government have put together a groundbreaking initiative, “1000 Lines of Code,” as it aims to train 1000 senior secondary school students (Private & Public) in the 11 local governments of Ibadan, Oyo State the basics of coding and technology.
This training put together by CodeGarageAfrica is happening through the partnership of not just 386konsult Limited, and Zeeh Africa but with the office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo State Government, Mr. Idowu Ogedengbe in collaboration with the Human Capital Division of the Oyo State government. This ambitious project aims to empower 1000 senior secondary school students across the 11 local governments of Ibadan with essential foundational coding/non-code tech skills in order to spark their interest in technology.
Scheduled to commence in July, the “1000 Lines of Code” initiative marks a significant milestone in bridging the digital divide and preparing the youth for the jobs of the future. With the support of both private and public educational institutions, this program seeks to provide students with the foundational knowledge and practical experience necessary to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state (Seyi Makinde), Mr. Idowu Ogedengbe, a visionary leader passionate about empowering the next generation, has expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating, “Access to quality education is the key to unlocking endless opportunities for our youth. Equipping these students with coding/non-code tech skills will not only prepare them for lucrative careers in technology but also foster innovation and creativity.” he said.
The involvement of the human capital division of the Oyo State Government through the office of the Executive Assistant to the Governor of Oyo state underscores the commitment of the state to prioritise education and invest in the future workforce. By partnering with grassroots organisations like CodeGarageAfrica, Zeeh Africa, and 386konsult Limited and leveraging existing infrastructure, the government aims to ensure widespread access to coding education and promote inclusive growth across all communities.
The “1000 Lines of Code” initiative by CodeGarageAfrica in partnership with Zeeh Africa, and 386konsult Limited will feature a comprehensive 1 week curriculum designed to introduce students to the fundamentals of coding, including programming languages such as Python, HTML, JavaScript, and UI/UX Designs. Through hands-on workshops, interactive projects, and mentorship opportunities, participants will have the opportunity to develop practical skills and gain confidence in their ability to build tech related projects.
